Magnolia Database (Mississippi Alliance for Gaining New Opportunities Through Library Information Access) is a statewide consortium funded by the Mississippi Legislature, the Mississippi Department of Education, and other public and academic libraries across the state. MAGNOLIA provides online databases for publicly funded K-12 schools, public libraries, community college libraries, and university libraries in Mississippi. Without this statewide project, students and teachers would not have free access to thousands of online resources that can assist with educational, professional and lifelong learning endeavors. MAGNOLIA represents a unique situation as it was the first type of cooperative consortium that represented all types of libraries in the nation at the time of establishment.
